Vision: To provide kids an
alternative to idle time. SBR Jaguars was created as a means to mentor, teach and
develop football skills as well as life skills for our youth.
In our inaugural season (2005) we
started with 35 members of the football team, 7 football coaches, 3 cheerleader coaches,
and 10 cheerleaders. The football team was comprised of kids ranging in ages from 7
11 and we competed in the AA Division for ages 9 11. The team finished
the season 4 4 and just missed the playoffs.
In our second season (2006), we felt the need to expand our base. The number of
players increased from 35 to 90 and the cheerleaders from 10 to 20, therefore the football
team was split into 3 teams, A (7 9), AA (9 11), and AAA (11
13). The A team coached by Terry Boyd was comprised of 35 players, AA coached by
Johnny Johnson, Jr., and Anthony Berniard 30 players, and AAA coached by Donald
Q Berniard and Theo Poydras 25 players. The A team finished the regular
season with a record of 7 1 and 0 1 in the postseason, losing its divisional
playoff game in overtime. The AA team finished with a record of 1 7 and the
AAA team 2 6.
In our third season (2007) the number of
kids participating as members of the SBR Jags Organization continued to rise. The
number of kids participating in football remained the same, but the cheerleaders increased
from 20 to 35. The A team finished the regular season with a record of 5 3
and 3 1 in the postseason, losing in the championship game. Thus, finishing
as Division A League Championship Runner Up. The AA team finished the regular
season with a record of 4 4 and 1 1 in postseason play. The AA team
made its first playoff appearance as a wild card and won its wild card game before losing
in the divisional round of the playoffs. The AAA team finished the regular season
with a record of 3 5 and 1 1 in postseason play. The AAA team made its
first playoff appearance as a wild card and won its wild card game before losing in the
divisional round of the playoffs.
In our fourth season (2008) the numbers
of kids participating as members of the SBR Jags Organization continued to increase due to
the addition of 5 and 6 year olds to compete in the Developmental Football League (D
League). Therefore the number of football players increased from 90 to 109; 35
competing in Division A, 30 competing in Division AA, 25 Competing in Division AAA, and 19
Competing in the D League. The number of cheerleaders remains at 35. The A
team finished the regular season with a record of 7 - 1 and 3 - 0 in the postseason,
winning the Division A Championship. The AA team finished the regular season with a
perfect record of 7 - 0 and 1 - 1 in postseason play, losing in the divisional
championship game of the playoffs. The AAA team finished the regular season with a
record of 5 - 3 and 2 -1 in the postseason, losing in the divisional championship game of
the playoffs.
